Located in one of Thailand’s most exclusive coastal enclaves, V Villas Hua Hin has undergone a profound transformation that reimagines contemporary luxury through a warm, serene, and deeply nature-connected lens. Conceived and led by our studio, this renovation has turned the existing resort into an immersive experience where design enters into a continuous dialogue with the landscape, enhancing the sense of place and elevating the overall atmosphere. 

A primary goal of the intervention was to strengthen the relationship between each space and the nearby sea, seeking to maximize views and reinforce the resort’s bond with its natural setting. This was achieved through a careful strategy of seamless indoor-outdoor connections, the use of noble, tactile materials, and a refined architectural language of clean lines and warm, enveloping atmospheres. Natural woods, floor-to-ceiling glazing, and fluid transitions between built and planted elements contribute to a timeless, residential feel—far from the rigidity of conventional hospitality spaces. The result is an intimate, sophisticated environment that encourages stillness, contemplation, and emotional engagement.. 

GRONDA’s scope of work included the redesign of the open-air lobby, the signature restaurant and its terraces with sunken cabanas, and the creation of a new beach bar on the shores of Hua Hin. 

 A focal point of the project is the complete transformation of the main restaurant, now reconceived as a versatile and dynamic space. At its heart, a carefully orchestrated open kitchen invites guests to engage directly with the culinary process, while an innovative ‘invisible buffet’ system integrates seamlessly into the architectural language—minimizing visual clutter and preserving the clarity of the design. 

The restaurant’s prime corner—offering the best views of the resort—has been opened up through a spectacular frameless structural-glass intervention, offering a panoramic 180-degree view over the sea. Bronze lattices with delicate floral motifs serve as poetic filters between interior and landscape, softly modulating light while engaging in visual dialogue with the surrounding greenery. The presence of water—both from the adjacent sea and the reflecting pools surrounding the building—heightens the sensation of floating within the landscape. 

The newly designed beach bar, strategically positioned between the waterfront and the infinity pools, offers a refined yet relaxed lounge experience. Surrounded by tropical vegetation and facing the Andaman Sea, the space has been conceived as a sophisticated hideaway for all-day enjoyment. A flexible layout of custom lounge furniture allows for multiple configurations throughout the day—from laid-back breakfasts to sunset cocktail sessions accompanied by ambient music. 

In addition, comprehensive refurbishment of all the resort’s common areas—including lobbies, lounges, and circulation spaces—was carried out, focusing on new materials, lighting, and bespoke furnishings. The result is a coherent and unified design narrative that ties the entire property together under a consistent sensibility: effortless elegance, seamless connection to the surroundings, and an atmosphere that promotes full disconnection from daily life. 

This project reaffirms our belief in design as a powerful medium for transforming experiences. Through a respectful, contemporary, and emotionally resonant approach, we have sought to celebrate the beauty of the place, the art of refined living, and the power of material warmth—elevating the guest journey through every detail. 

Ultimately, the strategy behind this renovation was to raise the standard of the existing property to match the level of excellence defined by the brand’s flagship: V Villas Phuket, also entirely designed by GRONDA in 2023.
