Chic Dining with Sumptuous Views of Biscayne Bay and Miami Skyline
This small copper-clad structure, which is semi-detached from the hotel’s main building, enjoys an exclusive waterfront location on Brickell Key and its floor-to-ceiling windows offer stunning views of the Miami skyline. The building was designed inside out: The layout of the interior was developed to optimize the restaurant’s flow of activity and determined the shape of the sculptural shell which stands out as guests approach the hotel. The building’s unconventional shape was also informed by analysis of different sight lines both from the exterior approach and the interior views out. The white marble open-kitchen features a large sculptural raw-bar in hammered metal as well as two tall service-towers serving as portals into the raised, stage-like kitchen area. The long bar’s large ice tray celebrates Miami’s unique cocktail culture. A sculptural staircase connects Azul with Café Simbal, a casual coffee shop. Waterfalls emerge from the stair’s steps and handrails creating a symphony of sound and sparkle.
