Diego Gronda, Founder & Creative Director
Diego Gronda is an international designer with more than 20 years of leadership in architecture and interior design. Throughout his career, Diego has collaborated with some of the most influential forces in hospitality, such as Grand & Park Hyatt Hotels, InterContinental Hotels, Mandarin Oriental, Nobu Hospitality, Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Taj Hotels Resorts and Palaces, and Virgin Hotels. He has created successful environments for hotels, resorts, spas, and restaurants, and developed identities for new hotel brands around the world. He has also designed offices and residential buildings, cultural and retail spaces, and master plans for new communities in Hong Kong, Doha, Dubai and Buenos Aires.
Prior to founding Studio Gronda, Diego was the Managing and Creative Director of Rockwell Group Europe. Award-winning projects completed under his lead include Virgin Hotels Chicago, W Paris-Opéra, Astor Grill and Gordon Ramsay at The St. Regis Doha, Arts Hotel in Barcelona, and Jaleo at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. He also led the design of Nobu Hotel Riyadh, Prince Gallery Hotel in Tokyo, W Suzhou and W Xiamen in China, Kempinski Doha and the renovation of Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in India. Before establishing Rockwell’s Madrid office in 2005, Diego was a Principal and Creative Director at Rockwell Group, New York where his projects included the design of the Ertegun Hall of Fame at Jazz at Lincoln Center, Nobu Fifty Seven, Café Gray, and various architecture concepts for a city for Cirque du Soleil in Hong Kong, among others. From 1995 to 2000, Diego was a Design Director at Tony Chi & Associates and in charge of interior design for major hotel brands, including Grand Hyatt in Taipei and Chicago, Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok, Mandarin Oriental in Miami, and InterContinental in Beirut and Oman.
Born in Buenos Aires to parents of Italian origin, Diego studied architecture at the University of Buenos Aires. He holds a Masters in Architecture from Parsons The New School of Design, where he was honored with the AIA (American Institute of Architects) Gold Medal for Excellence in the Study of Architecture. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences on topics related to design, creativity, and the future of hospitality.
